SUMMER CAMP PROGRAMS

The Challenger Learning Center New Mexico is now offering summer camp programs. Join us for fun-filled, educational adventures this summer!

Campers who want to stay for two camps (one morning and one afternoon) are welcome to do so, but they will need to bring their lunch. There will be adult supervision, but lunch is not provided.

COSMIC CAPERS June 13–17 12:30pm–3:30pm Gr. 4–8* $125
As an astronaut preparing for your mission, you will explore the secrets of comets as you and your teammates investigate scientific data and discover ways to solve unexpected emergencies. At the end of your training you will be part of the crew that journeys into space to extend your study of comets in our spaceflight simulator.

ROCKETRY June 13–17 9:00am–Noon Gr. 4–8* $125
You will explore the principles of flight and build and launch your own model rocket! Each session begins and ends with fun-filled activities that provide the necessary materials and content for you to use in building, launching, tracking, and calculating the flight path of your rocket.

TIGER TEAM June 13–17 12:30pm–3:30pm Gr. 6–8* $125
Step up to the plate as a member of the Tiger Team to solve unexpected problems that arise during a space mission based on real NASA situations. Campers will devise solutions, test, modify, and retest their solutions to save the astronauts! Many fun problem solving activities and games abound!

ASTRONOMY June 27–July 1 9:00am–Noon Gr. 1–4* $125
Your child is the "Star" at our Astronomy Summer Camp. Explore the solar system and beyond using "kid friendly" reflecting telescopes and the Starlab Portable Planetarium. Campers will experiment with light, learn about the planets, stars and constellations using the creative curricula developed by the Astronomical Society of the Pacific.

ROBOTICS June 27–July 1 12:30pm–3:30pm Gr. 4–6* $125
You are part of a team challenged to design and build a robot to carry out a mission on Mars. Your team must work together to rescue a crew of astronauts stranded in a Martian dust storm. Find out how robotics can save lives, explore space, and improve life on Earth.

Come take part as we learn about the similarities between race cars and aerospace, beginning in the early 20th century and continuing to the present day.

CRATER KIDS July 11–15 9:00am–Noon Gr. K–2* $125
Come learn about our Moon! The week begins with a “launch” to the Moon. Once we’re on the Moon, we will explore craters, build lunar rovers, and create edible solar systems. Back on Earth, we will plan time to share our adventures.

MICRONAUTS July 11–15 12:30pm–3:30pm Gr. 1–3* $125
Be part of our Discovery crew planning and doing experiments in our spacecraft simulator. Pre-flight training includes learning about life on board the space shuttle, orbit, and re-entry through hands on activities.

FLIGHT SPECIALISTS July 11–15 9:00am–Noon Gr. 2–3* $125

Campers will explore the principles of flight by creating model airplanes and rockets. We’ll experience Newton’s Laws of Motion as we navigate a dirigible through a flight plan. At the end of our week, we will even have an air rocket launch! Come join the team!

ISS CAMP August 1–5 TBA Gr. 7–12* $125
Feel what it's like to train like real astronauts preparing to assemble the International Space Station using an underwater microgravity simulation. *Learn to work as a team, like NASA *Learn to snorkel *Learn Newton's Laws of Motion *Build a 22' by 15' by 12' model of the ISS!

If you are interested in a camp and are unable to attend the dates listed, please contact us for possible schedule additions.

[Cancellation Policy: Campers who cancel more than two weeks before the first day of their camp will receive an 80% refund of camp fees. No refunds will be processed for cancellations after that date. No refunds will be given for campers who are expelled due to discipline problems. If a camp is cancelled, a full refund will be given to all registrants.]
